“Thirteen kilometers west of Sucha Beskidzka, in the valley between Beskidy Wysoki and Maly, on the banks of the small river Koconka, where it flows into the equally small Lachowka, carrying their water into the Skawa River, lies the little village of Kukow. It is laid out on a plateau at an altitude of 450 meters. Looking to the north we see drawn upon the horizon the peaks of the Little Beskidy mountains: Zurawnica, Black Mountain, and when the sun shines beautifully and when the air is transparent, even Mahadora - the tallest of them, and Queen Wyzyn, (. . . ) From the South one can see unfurled an even more colorful panorama of the High Beskidy mountains with the famous peaks: Magorka, Kiczora, Jalowiec, and further on the horizon lies the Pilsko range and the Babia Mountain Peak . . . “ [ more ]

Roadside Shrines in Kukow
